Direzione di ricerca

The payload names no files or tests, so start by reading the single existing comment on the issue to see whether the 8-byte alignment is deliberate, then locate where rust-gpu derives sizes and alignments for primitive scalar types (the target data layout / scalar type lowering in the codegen backend). Determine whether 16 would break SPIR-V rules or existing shader ABIs, since x86 uses 16 while some targets use 8. Done looks like a justified decision documented on the issue, or a change making u128/i128 report align 16 with layout tests confirming it.

Descrizione

Right now u128 alignment is 8 bytes, while most CPU targets (though not all) use 16 bytes alignment.

Is there any strong reason by rust-gpu makes u128 aligned to 8 bytes only?
