Research direction

Review the repository examples that use timers and compare their update-checking approach with the linked ROS 2 ParameterEventHandler tutorials. First determine which examples are in scope and whether polling is intentional; done would mean the reason is clarified or the examples are updated to use ParameterEventHandler, with the relevant example checks passing.

Description

Seems like a lost opportunity to showcase best practices. Using a ParameterEventHandler (C++/Python) seems like a nicer fit when checking for updates instead of using a timer that polls for changes every x seconds.

I'd be happy to make a PR, just want check in case there's a reason behind it I'm not aware of.
