Research direction

Read the P4 p4-views-and-reports change, especially design.md under “Risks,” then trace how gold/unit_usage and History’s device panel handle silver sessions and unaligned samples. Start by examining the hoot RobotMode framing and unit identity sources named in the issue. Done means hoot-only sessions produce usage rows marked unaligned and do not mix with wpilog-time features.

Description

enhancement

Risk accepted in P4 (openspec change p4-views-and-reports, design.md "Risks").

Problem: unit odometry (gold/unit_usage, History's device panel) only counts sessions with silver, and silver needs a wpilog to align hoots to. Hoot-only sessions get no usage rows:

  • a robot reboot mid-event without a new wpilog (corpus E10 restart group 2026-04-11_19-29-15);
  • the 2025 Q19 hoots.

Real wear (powered-on hours, energy, thermal cycles) is undercounted. The device panel shows "sessions without aligned samples: N" so the gap is visible.

Fix sketch: derive a hoot-clock silver for hoot-only sessions (framing from hoot RobotMode, unit identity from legacy epochs or a later inventory), marked as unaligned so it never mixes with wpilog-time features.
