Research direction

Start by reading the IOSoccer server configuration that sets executable and the _default.cfg and distro CSV dependency entries mentioned in the issue. Reproduce startup with ./srcds_run_64, then check whether the server answers A2S queries and accepts console input after VAC activates. Done means choosing and documenting the working 64-bit startup and monitoring behavior, including any needed dependency updates.

User story

As an IOSoccer server owner, I want iosserver to start and be monitored after the latest game update.

Game

IOSoccer (iosserver)

What happens

The IOSoccer update on 7 October 2026 (app 673990, build 25760596) replaced the 32-bit server with a 64-bit one. serverfiles now contains srcds_run_64 and srcds_linux64 (plus bin/linux64), and no srcds_run. LinuxGSM still uses executable="./srcds_run", so every start fails:

RESTART: FAIL: Executable was not found: /data/serverfiles/srcds_run

On a test server, the instance kept crash-looping from the update until it was noticed on 11 October.

What was tried

Setting executable="./srcds_run_64" in the instance config:

  • srcds_run_64 is Valve's 64-bit wrapper (from the TF2 dedicated server, per comments in the script). It starts srcds_linux64, symlinks the _srv libraries and links ~/.steam/sdk64/steamclient.so.
  • The server loads fully: Connection to Steam servers successful, VAC secure mode is activated, and it listens on UDP and TCP 27015.
  • But it then doesn't answer A2S queries (gamedig protocol-valve times out on 127.0.0.1, container IP and public IP), so monitor treats it as down.
  • It also didn't respond to console input (e.g. sv_master_legacy_mode) after activating.
To investigate
  • Is the server hung after VAC secure mode is activated, or just not answering A2S? (e.g. sv_master_legacy_mode, or the newer Steam query handling used by 64-bit TF2-based servers)
  • Whether glibc and dependencies in _default.cfg and the distro CSVs need updating for the 64-bit binary (currently glibc="2.3.6", 32-bit era).
  • Then switch executable to ./srcds_run_64.
