Research direction

Start by locating the Chaos visualizer’s rendering and pointer-interaction entry points; the issue does not name specific files or tests. Determine how rendered dots are ordered and how the topmost dot beneath the cursor can be identified. Done means a mouseover can show a dot’s walker number, sequence index, value, and corner destination, including when dots overlap.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

visualizer

Each dot in a Chaos visualizer has a walker number, sequence index & value , corner destination, etc. Would it be helpful to be able to show that information on mouseover? Of course, some dots overlap a great deal (and some may exactly overlap), so about the best one can do is to show the info for the topmost dot under the cursor (or possibly the topost n dots under the cursor). Since you can zoom very close in to a Chaos drawing, it's not hard to disambiguate dots that are close to each other or just partially overlap.
