Start in R/clusterFunctionsSlurm.R around the clusterFunctionsSlurm() implementation and inspect listJobsQueued() and listJobsRunning(). Compare those paths with future.batchtools's R/makeClusterFutureSlurm2.R and the referenced pull request, then update job listing to use sacct without stdout/stderr contamination. Done means queued and running Slurm jobs are listed reliably.

The clusterFunctionsSlurm() function uses squeue to list Slurm jobs:
I, and I think others, found that is not working reliably. Over in future.batchtools, I've patched the listJobsQueued() and listJobsRunning() function to use sacct instead + fixing stdout/stderr contamination (https://github.com/mlr-org/batchtools/pull/314) + a little bit more:

Feel free to adopt these patches as you'd like.
