Direzione di ricerca

Read DecalSurfaceBuilder and ChiselDecalSettings, then inspect the existing decal component tests to see how render meshes and colliders are checked. Add tests for transparent and opaque decal materials against both transparency settings, including the collider behavior; done means the tests establish the expected surface cuts, overlay offsets, and inspector warning or material-following behavior.

Descrizione

task

A decal marked transparent is drawn over the surface under it; an opaque one cuts its shape out of that surface and puts itself in its place (DecalSurfaceBuilder: transparent volumes are skipped by the cut). Whether a decal is transparent is its own setting (ChiselDecalSettings.transparent, on by default), not taken from its material.

To check:

  • A transparent decal leaves the surface under it whole in the render mesh, and its pieces are drawn over it with the surface offset
  • An opaque decal whose material is transparent cuts a hole the material then shows through, and a transparent decal with an opaque material draws over a surface it could have replaced. Decide whether the setting should follow the material (render queue or surface type), or at least warn in the decal's inspector when they disagree
  • The collider keeps the uncut surface either way
  • Tests for each, in the component tests next to the existing decal tests
