Research direction

Start by locating the side panel’s tab closing and collapse behavior, then trace what happens when its last tab closes. Change the panel to collapse at that point, and confirm that closing the final tab returns the space to the main conversation while closing other tabs preserves the panel.

Automatically collapse the side panel when the last tab is closed

What problem are you trying to solve?

When I close the last tab in the side panel, the panel stays open and shows the shortcuts screen (see screenshot). I’d prefer it to collapse automatically instead, giving that space back to the main conversation without requiring an extra click.
