Research direction

Find the Windows SSH launch code and inspect how it starts ssh.exe with redirected I/O. Check the platform's process launch options for CREATE_NO_WINDOW or an equivalent hidden-window option. Done means connecting via SSH no longer leaves a visible console window, while the connection continues to work.

Description

GitHub Copilot app 1.1.30 on Windows.

Repro
  1. Select Connect via SSH and establish a connection.
  2. An empty console window running ssh.exe remains visible.

Users can accidentally close this window, disrupting the connection.

Requested fix

Launch ssh.exe without a visible console, using Windows CREATE_NO_WINDOW or an equivalent hidden-window launch option compatible with redirected I/O.
