Descripción

Reported 2026-11-07: the display settings can't be found. Today:

  • Atom/bond style, sphere and cylinder quality, sizes: Render ▸ Style ▸ Custom Style…
  • MO surface colours (Red/Green, Red/Blue, Blue/Yellow, Light/Dark), Solid/Mesh/Contour, Opaque/Semi-transparent, Define Grid…: only in the MO panel's options menu, opened by a right-click inside the panel (not the 3-D view). The same hidden menu exists on Vibrations (table/graph), Partial Charges, Geometry Trace, spectra and Cube panels. Free colours only via ECCE_SURFACE_COLOR1/2 environment variables, and only with Light/Dark.

Wanted:

  1. Each panel's options shown as visible controls (e.g. a small 'Display' row or a ⚙ button in the panel's header that opens the same menu), not only on right-click. Right-click keeps working.
  2. MO and density surfaces: colour pickers for the positive and negative lobe (any colour, remembered), the four presets as quick choices, opacity as a slider (ties in with #879), surface type.
  3. One place that lists all rendering settings: a View ▸ Display Settings… (or Preferences ▸ Display) page with atom/bond style and quality (#880), background, surface colours and opacity, label fonts, with Reset to defaults; Custom Style stays as a shortcut to it.
  4. Environment variables removed from the colour path (or kept only as an override documented in the help).
  5. Help: a 'Display settings' page that says where everything is.
Hooks for every control; screenshot test of an MO with chosen colours.
