Research direction

This is a tracking issue whose work depends on component masks and a manipulation generalization that the payload does not describe, so there is no single starting file. Read .project-docs/mcp.md and the Maya reference issue #5 first to understand the scope and the MCP coverage inventory. Done would mean the component transforms and soft select are implemented behind the acceptance criteria, with tests, a native visual check, and documentation updates.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

area/modeling area/selection type/feature

Problem

Transform tools act on objects only.

Current behavior

Out of scope for the Move and Rotate/Scale plans; depends on component masks.

Expected behavior

Component-space transforms with history, plus soft select.

Acceptance criteria

  • Depends on component masks and the manipulation generalization.
  • Unimplemented controls stay visibly disabled with a reason; no dummy tools or controls.
  • MCP coverage in the same change: implemented operations and relevant state exposed with synchronized tool schemas, real Editor protocol tests (scene token, draft, modal, close and busy guards) and updates to .project-docs/mcp.md and its coverage inventory.
  • Native visual check of the real window (screenshot reviewed), not only headless tests.
  • Tests cover malformed, empty, boundary and failure cases; failed operations preserve the baseline.
  • No parity claim without comparison against the pinned Maya reference (#5); unverified constants are documented as provisional.
