Research direction

Start by locating the shared permission prompt component used by the desktop app; the issue does not name its file or a test. Reproduce with a long multi-line shell command and inspect how the command content affects the dialog height. Done means the dialog has a bounded height, the command area scrolls, and the approve and reject buttons remain reachable.

Summary

In the desktop app the permission request dialog expands to fit the whole command. A long multi-line shell command makes the dialog very tall, up to the full screen height. It should have a bounded height with a scrollable area.

Environment

  • opencode version: 2.0.32
  • OS: macOS 13.7.8 (Darwin 22.6.0, x86_64)
  • Terminal: desktop app (not a terminal session)
  • Shell: /bin/zsh
  • Install/channel: desktop, latest
  • Active plugins: none configured (only one MCP server)

Reproduction

  1. Add an ask rule for shell commands, e.g. a permission with resource * and effect ask.
  2. Ask the agent to run a long multi-line shell command (20 or more lines).
  3. The permission dialog appears and shows the entire command.

Expected Behavior

The dialog keeps a fixed maximum height and the command is shown in a scrollable area, so the approve and reject buttons stay reachable.

Actual Behavior

The dialog grows with the command length and takes the full height of the screen.

Additional Context

  • Seen while approving multi-line shell commands from a Code Mode agent.
  • Workaround: send shorter single-purpose commands.
  • Frequency: every time a long command needs approval.
  • The same dialog is used for other tools, so the fix likely belongs in the shared permission prompt component.
