Problem
The “Clean & Restart Packager” command performs four steps:
- Terminate the Metro process.
- Clean the Metro cache.
- Clean the Watchman cache, if available.
- Restart the packager.
However, the first three steps are logged as Step 1/3, Step 2/3,
and Step 3/3. The restart step is logged without a step number.
This makes the progress output inconsistent with the actual workflow.
Steps to reproduce
- Open a React Native project.
- Run the “Clean & Restart Packager” command.
- Inspect the progress messages in the React Native output channel.
Actual behavior
The output shows three numbered steps followed by an unnumbered restart:
- Step 1/3: Terminating Metro process...
- Step 2/3: Cleaning Metro cache...
- Step 3/3: Cleaning Watchman cache...
- Restarting Packager with clean cache...
Expected behavior
Display consistent numbering from Step 1/4 through Step 4/4,
including the packager restart.
Suggested fix
Update the four progress messages and add a regression test that verifies
their content and order. No changes to the cleanup or restart logic are needed.
