Problem
The “Download and install Expo Go on simulator or device” command replaces
download and installation exceptions with generic messages:
- “Failed to download Expo Go.”
- “Failed to install Expo Go.”
The original exception is discarded in both the Android and iOS flows.
This hides details needed to diagnose failures, such as network errors,
permission issues, insufficient disk space, or ADB/simulator errors.
Steps to reproduce
- Run the “Download and install Expo Go on simulator or device” command
in an Expo-managed project. - Select Android or iOS.
- Trigger a download failure, or select Auto and trigger an installation failure.
- Inspect the reported error.
Actual behavior
The command reports a generic failure message without preserving the
underlying exception.
Expected behavior
Keep the contextual download/installation failure message while preserving
the original exception and making its details available for troubleshooting.
Suggested solution
Use the existing NestedError mechanism to retain the original exception
as innerError and include its message in the contextual error.
Add regression tests for download and installation failures on both platforms.
