Research direction

Locate the CSS or Vue component that styles chat message paragraphs in Nextcloud Talk. Add the rule unicode-bidi: plaintext; text-align: start to those paragraphs, as the issue notes dir="auto" picks direction once. Verify with a mixed Latin/Persian message in Talk Desktop; done when Persian lines align correctly with embedded English words.

Description

bug Needs triage

Talk renders each chat message with dir="auto" on the whole message, so the base direction is picked once from the message’s first letter. A message that starts with a Latin word (e.g. NSX SpoofGuard) lays out all of its Persian lines as LTR, which scrambles punctuation and embedded English words. Fix: apply unicode-bidi: plaintext; text-align: start to the paragraphs inside the message so the direction is chosen per paragraph or line. We verified this CSS fixes it in Talk Desktop 2.3.2.
