Research direction

Start at the React Native: Install Expo Go Application command and trace its two showQuickPick calls. Return immediately when either selection is canceled, then add regression coverage for both cancellation paths and verify that no later prompt, metadata request, download, or installation occurs.

Description

enhancement

Description

The Install Expo Go Application command continues executing when the user cancels one of its Quick Pick prompts.

  • Canceling the platform selection still opens the installation method prompt.
  • Canceling the installation method is treated like a manual installation, causing the command to continue checking the Expo environment and potentially downloading Expo Go.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Run the React Native: Install Expo Go Application command.
  2. Cancel the platform selection.

Alternatively:

  1. Select a platform.
  2. Cancel the installation method selection.

Expected behavior

The command should stop immediately when either Quick Pick is canceled. It should not display another prompt, request Expo version metadata, download files, or install an application.

Actual behavior

The command continues after cancellation and may perform unnecessary network or download operations.

Proposed fix

Return early after each showQuickPick call when no option is selected, and add regression tests for both cancellation paths.
