Descrizione

Tools > Compare Energies (#573) was made for ionisation energies and electron affinities: one calculation against one, final energies only. Wanted (Andy 2026-10-27): reaction energies with geometry, solvation and thermochemistry.

  • Sums on each side: A and B each a list of calculations ([+] / [−]), e.g. butadiene + ethene → cyclohexene.
  • Rows: E; E + ZPE, H (T) and G (T) when every calculation on both sides has frequencies (otherwise the row says "needs frequencies"); columns A and B in hartree, B − A in kJ/mol, kcal/mol and eV. Temperature shown; warning when the sides differ.
  • Solvation: each side's solvent listed. A gas-phase and a solvent calculation of the same molecule (same charge, method, basis) → the difference is labelled "solvation energy". Other solvent mismatches warn.
  • Checks: the existing notes on differing code, method or basis; a warning when the atoms on the two sides differ (not a balanced reaction).
  • Calculation lists sorted alphabetically (#611).
  • Reuse the wx-free Reaction Energies code (src/apps/builder/ReactionEnergies.{H,C}, rxnAnalyse, RxnState) by moving it to a wx-free library both apps link; the dialog only gathers and shows. Help page compare-energies.md updated.
