Research direction

Review the plugin in ArcadeAI/arcade-plugin at tag v0.9.0, starting with its plugin/ path, skills, custom agent, and hooks/hooks.json. Confirm that the submitted ref and SHA match and that the external plugin quality gates pass. The change is done when the Arcade entry in plugins/external.json accurately points to the reviewed plugin and validation succeeds.

Description

Plugin name

arcade

Short description

Connect Copilot to the apps you already use (email, calendar, issue trackers, chat, docs) through Arcade's hosted MCP gateway. Each user authorizes each app with OAuth in the browser, so the agent never holds API keys or tokens, and the skills ask for confirmation before any send, create, update, or delete.

Additional notes for reviewers

Submitted by the Arcade.dev team, who maintain this plugin.

What it adds to Copilot

  • One remote MCP server, arcade → https://api.arcade.dev/mcp/arcade (Streamable HTTP). It gives Copilot tools for the user's connected apps (Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, GitHub, Linear, Jira, Notion and others).
  • Two skills: try-arcade (picks and runs the right app tool for a plain-language request, and asks for confirmation before any send, create, update or delete) and scale-arcade (guidance for rolling a working setup out to a team).
  • One custom agent, arcade-operator (com.github.copilot/agents/), which runs a bounded app task and returns to the main session for sign-in or confirmation.
  • Two hooks (com.github.copilot/hooks/hooks.json): SessionStart and SubagentStart. Each runs node hooks/<name>.mjs, which prints static routing guidance into context. They make no network calls, write no files, and exit quietly if the script is missing. No prompt or tool-use hooks are registered.

Requirements and data flow

** Docs at this revision

Known limits

  • Copilot CLI doesn't load the plugin's slash commands, and it drops output from prompt hooks, so the routing guidance comes only from session start and subagent start.
  • In VS Code, hook support depends on the agent harness and VS Code version (covered in the VS Code guide).

Local checks against this ref/SHA (upstream eng/external-plugin-quality-gates.mjs at awesome-copilot 2d4b998, Copilot CLI 1.0.103, clean HOME): spec compliance pass, vally lint pass (2/2 skills), install smoke test pass, version match pass, ref/sha consistency pass, overall pass. validateExternalPlugin with the publicSubmission policy returned no errors and no warnings.

Since the first submission, v0.9.0 moved the shipped plugin from the repository root into plugin/, so this revision sets the plugin path to plugin.

No arcade entry exists in plugins/external.json. The existing arcade-canvas plugin is an unrelated retro-games canvas.
