Additional notes for reviewers

Submitted by Nitrogen's maintainer; prepared with Claude Code. Nitrogen is an MIT-licensed CLI that scaffolds a Shopify embedded app on Firebase: Cloud Functions gen 2 on Node.js 24 (one function per API resource, TypeScript or JavaScript), Firestore, Hosting and Secret Manager. The admin UI is plain HTML with Polaris web components and App Bridge, with no build step. Apps can be single- or multi-tenant, and every generated project has a test suite.

The plugin is one skill, skills/shopify-firebase-app (SKILL.md and three reference files), described by plugin.json at the repository root. It gives an agent:

  • the CLI flags to scaffold without the interactive wizard;
  • references for every Polaris web component and the App Bridge shopify global, and a rule not to use Polaris React or @shopify/app-bridge-react;
  • the steps agents miss when changing an app: a new API needs a file, an export and matching Hosting rewrites; new scopes and webhook topics need shopify app deploy; order and customer data need protected customer data access; new Firestore collections must be registered so shop/redact deletes them;
  • security rules: the shop and app come only from the verified request, and Firestore is reached only through functions;
  • a table of Firebase and Shopify failures with their fixes.

Running a generated app needs Firebase's Blaze plan (pay as you go, with a free monthly allowance), which is why the homepage mentions a plan, and an app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard. Nothing is sold.
