Reproduce the countdown on KDE Plasma Wayland and first check whether a recording starts, using the recording directory, tray icon, or tray menu mentioned in the issue. Then investigate whether the portal session resolves or the HUD fails to update into its recording state. Done means the HUD shows the recording controls after countdown and lets the user stop the recording.

Report
A user on Linux cannot start or stop a recording from the HUD:
- Picks a screen in the portal picker.
- The 3-2-1 countdown runs.
- The HUD stays as it was: no red stop button, no timer, no pause/restart/cancel.
So the user has no visible way to tell whether a take is running, nor to end it from the HUD.

- OpenScreen 2.0.0
- Debian GNU/Linux 13 (trixie), 13.7
- KDE Plasma 6.3.6, Frameworks 6.13.0, Qt 6.8.2
- Kernel 6.12.107+deb13-amd64
- Wayland
- AMD Ryzen 5 7430U, Radeon integrated graphics (MSI Modern 15 B7M), 16 GB RAM
To check
- Whether capture actually starts after the countdown (a recording in
~/.config/openscreen/recordingsor similar, tray icon turning red, tray menu showing Stop Recording). - Whether the HUD fails to re-render into its recording state on KDE Wayland, or the portal session never resolves.
- Workaround to suggest meanwhile: tray icon → right-click → Stop Recording.
The user mentioned a screenshot of what they get when starting; it was not attached.
