This is an open-ended design request for auto-configuring CalDAV server quirks (currently explicit). Start by reading how quirks are declared and applied in the library today, then decide among domain-based well-known servers, try-fail-retry, or optional caldav-server-tester probing. Done means quirks can be discovered without the caller listing them, without overlapping heavily with the tester, including servers that cannot create calendars.

Descripción

As of v2.2.2, the caldav lbirary may work around various server issues, but only if it's explicitly made aware of them. We need some ways to auto-configure this.

Ideas:

  • For well-known cloud offerings it should suffice to have a look at the domain
  • Try-fail-try again. If the server does not get the results it expects, it may try to go into the quirk mode. Potentially also saving the results - but I don't want a lot of overlapping between the caldav-server-tester and normal caldav operations!
  • Make an optional dependency from the caldav server to the caldav-server-tester and have "auto-discovery"-mode probing the server once and saving the results (this may be a bit non-trivial for servers where it's not possible to create calendars)
