Research direction

Read the linked issues #20–#32 and the README and documented checks they reference; this issue is an acceptance index, with implementation assigned to those focused issues. Start by checking the then-current master against the listed criteria and run the complete documented checks from a clean checkout. Done means linking delivered changes, verifying examples against their code, recording automated, manual and untested coverage, and stating a scoped recommendation.

Description

epic self-check

Decision from the 2026-10-19 review

Baseline: c2cbcf07ae67263ec7dbeb7cfb5822ea65b49c38 after PR #15.

Useful handbook and source of individual examples: yes. Finished, copy-the-whole-repository reference: not yet. The distinction is about the published product, not private development activity. A successful CI run does not establish visual quality, complete compatibility or correct untested input behavior.

This issue is the acceptance index requested by the owner. Implementation belongs in the focused issues below, not in an ever-expanding omnibus PR.

Minimum for a confident presentation-and-tooling recommendation

  • #20 — finish the actual About description and accurate topics (settings remain owner-authorized).
  • #21 — show a real result and a short first-success route in BeautifulRepo's own README; remove duplicated navigation. Make clear that PocketDiff is fictional rather than calling its command a verified executable result.
  • #22 — prevent loss of existing generated output when invalid Unicode fails encoding.
  • #23 — fix valid long-text mobile reflow in the application example.
  • #24 — reject ambiguous duplicate JSON keys before strict validation.
  • #25 — honor literal-text rendering in both catalog and curated example.
  • #26 and #27 — close the reproduced URL-syntax/fragment contract failures without conflating the tools' different policies.
  • #29 — verify the advertised minimum Python version in explicit CI environments.
  • Record an actual rendered desktop/narrow, light/dark and keyboard review; handle #28's meaningful control cues with correct WCAG scope and #31's actual navigation targets. Do not substitute a CSS number or inline-link count for this review.

Additional requirements for the broader complete-maintenance claim

  • #30 — establish operational community/security reporting and conduct policies, or keep the recommendation explicitly limited to documentation and presentation.
  • #32 — publish one real, reproducible application of the handbook with before/after revisions and stated limits.

Existing work to reuse, not duplicate

#16 and #17 remain broader presentation/editorial initiatives; #18 and #19 are their focused examples. Their entire future scope is not a prerequisite for recommending a first useful edition. Existing catalog and workshop-hardening branches contain some fixes; fresh-test and integrate them rather than opening duplicate source branches.

Final acceptance

Re-review the then-current master, run the complete documented checks from a clean checkout, verify displayed examples against their actual code, and distinguish automated, manual and untested coverage. Close this issue only with links to delivered changes and a scoped recommendation.

A hosted website, new logo, public package release, animation, star target, paid design tool, exhaustive framework support or a zero-issue backlog is not a requirement. These are reader-facing acceptance criteria, not invented GitHub merge-protection gates.
