Research direction

Start by reading the README prerequisites and self-check section, then compare the commands and platform coverage with the CI configuration and v0.1.0 notes mentioned in the issue. Add the clone and directory steps, tested and untested platforms, and success criteria without fixed counts. Verify from a fresh clone and record the commit in the PR.

Description

documentation self-check

Reader problem

A reader on a clean machine doesn't know how to get the checkout, or which operating systems are actually verified, before running the README commands.

Evidence

Observed on 2026-10-22 at master d55594d.

  • README states Python 3.11+ and "from the repository root", but has no clone-and-cd step.
  • CI verifies Ubuntu (Python 3.11 and 3.14) and Windows (Python 3.14 for the suite; 3.11 for the action self-test). macOS is untested, as the v0.1.0 notes say. README doesn't state any of this.
  • The self-check block shows no expected output and names no revision.
  • Checklist items "prerequisites, directory and environment" and "expected output at a named revision" are PARTIAL.

Acceptance

  • Add a copyable git clone https://github.com/drevendev/BeautifulRepo.git and cd BeautifulRepo step before the first command.
  • State the tested platforms and the untested ones in one line next to the prerequisites.
  • Describe success for the self-check commands (exit 0 and OK: lines) without hard-coding counts that drift.
  • Verify in a fresh clone and record the commit in the PR.
