- [**shim-cli**](https://github.com/GetSHIM/shim-cli) - (37 ⭐) - Local hooks that mask secrets and personal data in Claude Code tool results before the model reads them; `shim watch` shows what a session sent and what it cost.

What it does in Claude Code:

  • Masks API keys, credentials and personal data (emails, IBANs, cards, phone numbers and more) in tool results such as Read before the model sees them, and prints a per-turn summary of what was masked.
  • shim watch -- claude runs one session behind a loopback proxy and reports tokens by request section (tools array, conversation, tool results) and API-equivalent cost, without changing a byte.
  • shim audit counts what already reached the model in past sessions under ~/.claude/projects.
  • The hook adds no account, network destination or telemetry. Apache-2.0, on PyPI as shim, also installable as a Claude Code plugin (/plugin marketplace add GetSHIM/shim-cli).

Limits are documented in the README: a typed prompt is reported, not masked, because Claude Code does not let a hook rewrite it.
