Research direction

Start by reviewing AgentKit's action model and the described x402 request flow: POST to an endpoint, handle the 402 Payment-Required challenge, sign the Base USDC payment, and retry with Payment-Signature. Done means an action or helper can consume an x402-protected endpoint and return its paid result.

Description

Is your feature request related to a problem?

Agents built with AgentKit often need to call third-party APIs that charge per request. There's no built-in way for an AgentKit action to consume a paywalled API and pay automatically.

Describe the solution you'd like

An action (or helper) that consumes an x402-protected endpoint: make the request, receive the 402 Payment-Required challenge, sign the Base USDC payment, and retry. x402 is the Coinbase HTTP payment protocol, so it would slot naturally into AgentKit's action model.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  • Pre-paid API keys (not pay-per-call).
  • A generic "fetch + pay" utility rather than a typed action.

Example flow

POST to an x402 endpoint → 402 with a Payment-Required header → sign with the agent's wallet → retry with Payment-Signature → paid result.
