Research direction

Start at the Voice Engine tab and trace startup activation of Whisper Large in version 1.6.13-beta.1; the issue does not name source files or tests. Reproduce by upgrading from the stable version with Whisper Large active, then check whether activation fails gracefully and switching or downloading engines remains available.

Description

bug
Describe the bug

FluidVoice Version 1.6.13-beta.1 introduced the following bugs on the Voice Engine tab:

  • At startup, Whisper Large activation remains stalled with a 100% progress and non effective Cancel button.
  • Impossible to switch between voice engines.
  • Impossible to download new voice engines.
Reproduction steps
  1. Open the previous version of FluidVoice (stable channel)
  2. Go to Voice Engine
  3. Select Whisper Large (active)
  4. Update FluidVoice to 1.6.13-beta.1 (beta channel)
  5. Go to Voice Engine
Expected behavior
  1. Voice engine activation at startup should fail gracefully and provide proper feedback when it happens.
  2. Switching or downloading voice engines should always work seamlessly, even when activation of a currently selected engine fails.
Actual behavior

See bug description.
