Research direction

Read PLAN.md Phase 4, the existing docs/setup and docs/getting-started content, reference/ci-cd.md, domain-descriptor.md, and docs/schema/deployment-profile.schema.json. Map the requested guides and reference pages, then trace the manifest, olf check structure, release tooling, e2e modules, and link gate to identify every path that needs updating. Done means every schema field is documented, old paths are removed from those references, and the link gate passes.

Description

documentation priority: P2

Part of the docs restructure for openlakeforge.dev (PLAN.md, Phase 4). Depends on #441.

Scope

Guides (task-oriented, from what is left of setup/local.md, first-data-product.md and setup/):

  • Install and access: install options (uv, pip, toolchain modes), HTTP vs HTTPS, name resolution, port-forward fallback.
  • Data products: add a source, add a resource, add a domain, add a Gold model, export / import a dashboard, ownership identities.
  • Stages and CI: promote DEV → PROD (today's reference/ci-cd.md), protect the prod environment.
  • Cloud: prepare a cloud account, deploy to AWS, deploy to Azure.
  • Operate: status and service URLs, diagnostics, troubleshooting, tear down.

Reference:

  • deployment-profile.md (new): openlakeforge.yaml field by field, including spec.identity and spec.access, from docs/schema/deployment-profile.schema.json.
  • lakehouse-descriptor.md and source-descriptor.md, split from domain-descriptor.md.
  • cli.md: tools/olf/README.md published through the manifest.
  • services-and-routes.md, components.md (one entry per bundled component: role, version, UI) and glossary.md: new.
  • component-catalog.md and compatibility-matrix.md move from docs/release/; olf release compatibility-matrix writes to the new path.

docs/setup/ and docs/getting-started/ are empty after this PR.

Acceptance

  • Every field in the deployment-profile schema appears on the reference page.
  • olf check structure, release tooling and e2e modules reference only new paths; the link gate passes.
