Research direction

Start with tools/olf/olf/openmetadata/_orchestration.py and inspect the missing-assets handling in OpenMetadataDeployer.deploy(), then read tools/olf/tests/test_openmetadata_orchestration.py. Update the guidance to name sorted, deduplicated missing table FQNs and describe the stated ETL, ingestion, and redeployment sequence; preserve warning versus error behavior. Done when tests cover both modes and the message avoids local-only flags.

Description

Why

When an OpenMetadata table asset is missing, the deployment error currently recommends retrying with a hard-coded local --cluster-name and --kubeconfig-path example. That hint is misleading for cloud deployments or custom project roots.

Scope

  • Update the missing-assets error in OpenMetadataDeployer.deploy() to name the unresolved table FQNs and explain the sequence: run product ETL → allow catalog ingestion → rerun metadata deployment using the original deployment/provider options.
  • Do not invent a provider, stage or kube context and do not display credentials.
  • Keep allow_missing_assets semantics (warning vs error) unchanged.

Acceptance criteria

  • Tests exercise both warning and error modes and assert sorted/deduplicated missing table FQNs.
  • Message is valid for local, AWS and Azure; it does not prescribe local-only flags.
  • No changes to actual OpenMetadata API writes or retries.

Start here: tools/olf/olf/openmetadata/_orchestration.py, tools/olf/tests/test_openmetadata_orchestration.py.

Out of scope: adding automatic retries, ingestion scheduling, drift reconciliation (#55).

Contributor note: Keep the PR narrowly scoped and follow AGENTS.md; the local Python test suite and Ruff are the baseline gates.
