Research direction

Start by reading the exercise library and routine creation entry points to learn how exercises and routines are stored and displayed. The request spans equipment filtering, default routine presets, custom routine tags, and progression descriptions; the issue names no files or tests. Done means users can filter by equipment, access home routines, categorize custom routines, and see bodyweight progression variants.

Problem / Motivation

GymMane is an excellent offline tracker, but the exercise catalog and pre-built routines are primarily tailored toward gym-based setups with weights and machines.

For users training at home or while traveling without access to gym gear, finding suitable movements requires manually scrolling through 500+ exercises to check whether equipment is needed. Furthermore, there are no default zero-equipment routines to help home users get started immediately.

Proposed Solution
  1. Equipment Filter in Exercise Library

    • Add a quick filter by equipment type (e.g., Bodyweight / No Equipment, Dumbbell, Barbell, Machine).
    • Selecting Bodyweight / No Equipment should instantly isolate exercises like push-ups, bodyweight squats, lunges, planks, and glute bridges.
  2. Pre-configured Home Workout Routines

    • Add 1–2 default full-body home routines (e.g., Full Body Calisthenics Basics) under the Routines tab.
    • Allow users to categorize custom routines under a "Home" or "Bodyweight" tag.
  3. Support for Bodyweight Progressions

    • Provide clear progression variants in exercise descriptions (e.g., Knee Push-ups → Push-ups → Elevated Feet Push-ups) to help home trainees apply progressive overload without added weights.

Alternatives Considered

Currently, users must manually search, identify bodyweight movements, and assemble custom home routines from scratch, which creates unnecessary friction for beginners.

Additional Context
  • Keeps the app completely offline and lightweight, requiring no new permissions or external dependencies.
  • Broadens GymMane's audience to include calisthenics practitioners, travelers, and beginners starting fitness at home.
