Research direction

Start by finding the exercise settings menu and the auto-progression logic, then read how exercise sets and workout history are stored. The issue proposes two additions: tracking left and right sides within an exercise, and marking workouts so they remain in history but do not affect progression. Done means both options work as described; the issue does not identify specific files, tests, or a narrower implementation scope.

Description

Done enhancement

Hi! First of all, thank you for developing GymMane—it’s an incredible, lightweight tool for strength training.
I’d like to suggest adding two new configuration options to the exercise settings menu (similar to the layout shown in the attached mockup): "Sides" and "Deload Program". Without these, logging certain workouts causes unnecessary friction and confusion.
Here is what these two features do and why they are needed:
Sides (For unilateral/alternating movements):
What it does: Allows tracking sets sequentially for each side separately (e.g., left arm/leg, then right arm/leg) within the same exercise block.
Why it's needed: For unilateral exercises (like lunges, single-arm kettlebell presses, or splits), users currently have to guess or manually manage records for left and right sides, leading to confusion in tracking balanced progress.
Deload Program (Light/Recovery mode):
What it does: A toggle that temporarily excludes specific workouts from the auto-progression algorithm while still keeping them fully visible in history and general statistics.
Why it's needed: During recovery weeks or light technical sessions, users intentionally lift lower weights or reduce reps. Without this toggle, the app misinterprets this as a performance drop and incorrectly lowers future target weights or reps.
(Attached is a quick visual concept of how this layout could look in the app).
Thank you for considering these additions to make GymMane even more versatile!
