Research direction

This bug affects the Fossify Android launcher's home screen folder behavior, implemented in Kotlin. Start by locating the code that handles app removal from home screen folders and updates folder UI state, then reproduce the issue by creating a folder with two apps, removing both, and confirming the icon-less leftover appears. The fix should either delete the empty folder from the home screen or ensure a valid folder drawable is displayed when the folder has no remaining items.

Affected app version

1.10.0 / code 16

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Android 14 (API 34)

Affected device model

Android emulator, Pixel 6 profile (1080 x 2400)

How did you install the app?

None

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Install the APK cleanly and create a folder containing two child items (drag one app onto another).
  2. Open the folder and run Remove on the first child item.
  3. Run Remove on the second (last) child item.
  4. Wait for the home screen to settle and check the parent folder object: the home screen still shows the visible text Folder, but there is no folder icon, leaving an icon-less leftover object in place.
Expected behavior

Removing the last item of a folder should remove the folder container, or keep it shown with a recognisable drawable and usable interaction; it should not leave an icon-less, zero-size leftover entry on the home screen.

Actual behavior

After removing both items of a folder (the second one being the last), the home screen still shows the folder name text but without any folder drawable, leaving an icon-less leftover object in place.
