Research direction

Start by tracing how the app drawer reads and retains its search query, then follow the setting that disables the search bar. Reproduce the reported steps on Android: search for Settings, disable the bar, and reopen the drawer. Done when disabling the bar clears or stops applying the hidden query and the drawer shows the unfiltered app list.

Affected app version

1.10.0 / code 16

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Android 14 (API 34)

Affected device model

Android emulator, Pixel 6 profile (1080 x 2400)

How did you install the app?

None

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Install the APK cleanly, go to the home screen and open the app drawer.
  2. Type Settings in the search field and confirm the drawer is filtered down to Settings.
  3. Close the drawer (return to the home screen), open the Launcher settings and turn off Show a search bar.
  4. Return to the home screen and open the app drawer again.
  5. Check: the search bar is no longer visible, but the list still shows only Settings, so the previous query is still in effect.
Expected behavior

After the search bar is disabled, reopening the drawer should show the unfiltered app list, or at least should not keep applying a query the user can no longer see or clear.

Actual behavior

After searching for Settings and then turning off Show a search bar, reopening the app drawer shows no search bar but still lists only Settings, so the previous query remains active without any visible way to clear it.

Additional information

Package: org.fossify.home
Version: 1.10.0.

When I turn the search bar back on, my old search text is still in the box, so the drawer was still being filtered by a search I could no longer see.
