Research direction

Reproduce the issue using the listed steps on Android 14, then trace the home-screen grid/layout code that applies the row-count setting; the payload does not name specific files or tests. Check what happens to non-dock items when rows are reduced to 2, and verify that existing items remain visible and usable or move to a valid position.

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Install the APK cleanly, go to the home screen and place an app in a non-dock position in the work area, confirming it is visible and launchable.
  2. Open the Launcher settings and set Home screen rows to the minimum (2).
  3. Return to the home screen and wait for the layout to settle.
  4. Check the non-dock icon: it is gone from the work area and only the dock items remain on the home screen.
Expected behavior

Changing the home screen row count is a layout option and should keep existing non-dock items visible and usable, or move them to a clearly valid position.

Actual behavior

After setting Home screen rows to the minimum (2) and returning to the home screen, the icon that was placed in the non-dock work area is gone from the home screen; only the dock items remain.
