Research direction

Reproduce the reported case on Android 14: drag an app from the drawer’s first cell to an empty home-screen area. Then trace the app-drawer drag-and-drop handling and compare it with the working dock drag behavior. Done means the drawer closes and the dropped app appears on the home screen and can be launched.

Affected app version

1.10.0 / code 16

Affected Android/Custom ROM version

Android 14 (API 34)

Affected device model

Android emulator, Pixel 6 profile (1080 x 2400)

How did you install the app?

None

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Install the APK cleanly, go to the home screen, open the app drawer and confirm the target app is in the first cell of the first row.
  2. Long-press that app icon and hold it, then drag it to an empty area of the home screen work area.
  3. Release at that empty position.
  4. Check: the drawer closes, but the app icon does not appear in the home screen work area, so the object was not placed.
Expected behavior

After dragging an app from the app drawer and dropping it on an empty home screen area, the drawer should close and the app icon should appear on the home screen and be launchable.

Actual behavior

After long-pressing an app in the drawer and dropping it on an empty home screen area, the drawer closes but no icon is added to the home screen; the object is not placed.

Additional information

Package: org.fossify.home
Latest checked release: 1.10.0, checked 2026-09-19.

Dragging within the dock and dragging an icon onto another icon to create a folder both work, so the basic drag path is fine and the failure is limited to the drawer-to-home placement.
