Research direction

Locate the driver code that reads the drv_in namelist and inspect existing NUOPC_CompAttributeSet calls used to pass values to subcomponents. Trace how MODEL_VERSION and model_version are represented in the nuopc.runconfig configuration. Done means the driver reads model_version and passes it to the relevant components as a NUOPC attribute.

Description

CESM only enhancement Responsibility: CTSM

CIME sets the XML variable MODEL_VERSION. And model_version is part of the buildnml for the nuopc.runconfig configure file. But, it looks like the driver doesn't read it in and set it as an attribute that can be sent to components.
