Start from the component used when a user submits an exercise (search the src tree for the exercise submission form and its variation fields), then find the admin route/component for an existing exercise where variations should be editable. Check how admin-only access is gated elsewhere in this React app. Done looks like an admin can create and edit variations of an existing exercise through the UI, reusing the submission component or a shared version of it. The issue has sat unanswered for four years with no PR, so confirm with maintainers before investing.
