Can't compile and run C code by pressing the play button

Description
Can't run C file using the play button. The menu only shows (gdb) launch. I'm sure that GCC is install and in PATH. Same in WSL.
Steps to reproduce
- Check if GCC is installed and is in PATH. If not, install it and add it to PATH.
- Open a new folder.
- create a .c file.
- Enter some code
- Check if the C/C++ extension by Microsoft is installed. If not, install it and reload VS Code.
- Click on the arrow beside the play button on the top right of the window.
- Select "Run C/C++ file"
- See that only
(gdb) launch(and(Windows) launchon Windows) shows up. Notice that there is no option that looks likegcc build active file.
