Start by locating the Go entry point for the watcloud du command and reading how the CLI currently accesses home-directory data. Use the CephFS recursive directory-size metadata described in the issue rather than walking every file. Done means an interactive, size-sorted home-directory view that opens quickly, supports drilling into directories, and shows quota usage.

watcloud du opens an interactive view of your home directory, sorted by size, that you can drill into, like ncdu. It opens instantly at any depth and shows how much of your home quota each directory takes up. It answers "I'm at quota, what do I delete?"
Approach. CephFS stores each directory's total recursive size as metadata, so a directory's size is one lookup rather than a walk over every file. On a 6.8 GiB home, a full sorted top-level breakdown took 55 ms versus 35 s for du -sh, and it puts no load on the filesystem. These totals are also exactly what the quota is measured against, which isn't true of du.
