Problem
An engine with no plugin of its own is unreachable, even when the user already has a working ODBC driver installed for it.
Proposed solution
A registry plugin over unixODBC, built as a static library and published through apple/Libs/:
- A DSN picker reading
odbc.ini, or a full connection string. Homebrew's unixODBC keepsodbc.iniandodbcinst.iniunder/opt/homebrew/etc. - Metadata through
SQLTables,SQLColumnsandSQLPrimaryKeys, so the sidebar works without engine-specific SQL. - Read and write where the driver reports write support, read-only where it does not.
- Say clearly in the UI which features are unavailable, since anything depending on engine-specific SQL cannot work here.
