描述
PATCH /settings passes every newsLink it receives through sanitiseAndValidateUrl, and @braintree/sanitize-url turns null and '' into about:blank, which fails urlRegex, so the request gets a 422. The settings page always sends newsLink, as null when the field is empty. So an admin can't clear the news link once it's set, and an organisation without one (the schema default) can't save any setting from that page.
The participant portal treats "no news link" as valid (#598): the menu hides News, and /news redirects home. Clearing worked until #862 added the check for #860.
Fix: accept an empty newsLink as null, and only check non-empty values.
