描述
CPAN failure
Lingua-ZH-Romanize-Pinyin 0.23 fails its test suite under PerlOnJava. A fresh extraction passes all 77 tests under system Perl.
Archived run 20261028-144340-47138 reported:
- The two dictionary tests could not load
Pinyin.storeandCantonese.storefromblib/lib. - Both UTF-8 tests failed to parse the guard
unless ( $] >= 5.008001 ).
Confirmed behavior
The distribution's Makefile.PL adds custom MakeMaker postamble rules that generate the two .store files, and maps those files into blib/lib. With system Perl, make test runs both generation recipes, copies both files, and passes all five test programs (77 tests). In the archived PerlOnJava run, MakeMaker reported a successful build but the stores were absent from blib/lib when tests started. This points to PerlOnJava's MakeMaker/build handling of custom postamble targets or generated PM mappings.
The parser failure is independently reproducible from the archived log at the $] comparison in the two UTF-8 test files; system Perl accepts these expressions.
Expected result
PerlOnJava's MakeMaker build should execute custom postamble generation targets and copy their generated files into blib/lib, and its parser should accept the Perl version comparison used by these tests.
