描述
Opening the spin density view for an unrestricted Ti2Nb8O28Na3H2O calculation took 3 min 15 s (9.4.3).
The view analyses every orbital with a non-zero net spin. For an unrestricted wavefunction that is every occupied alpha and beta orbital, not only the singly occupied ones, and each one gets a Mulliken composition on the GUI thread (MoPanel::spinDensityData). The time is probably split between that loop and building the AO overlap matrix.
To do:
- measure where the time goes;
- compute the spin populations from the spin density matrix (P_alpha − P_beta)·S in a single pass, and the composition only for the SOMOs listed;
- run it in the background with progress and Cancel, as Density Profile does (#629).
