The payload names no files, functions or entry points, so start by reproducing the freeze on Windows: launch with a previously opened workspace, then switch workspaces, and note where the UI blocks. The only diagnostic is a session ID with no logs attached, so profiling or adding timing logs around startup and the workspace-switch path will be needed. Done means both freezes are reproduced, their cause is identified, and the UI stays responsive during launch and switching.

Reproduction steps
- Launch the Windows desktop client that has previously opened at least one workspace.
- Observe a noticeable freeze during startup.
- Switch to another workspace and observe another freeze.
Notes:
- I haven't tested a completely fresh client with no history, so I can't confirm whether it freezes in that case.
- The freeze does not scale with workspace size — an empty folder freezes about as long as a large repo.
Expected behavior
The client should launch and switch workspaces smoothly, with little to no noticeable freeze.
Actual behavior
The client freezes for a noticeable time both on launch and when switching workspaces. The UI is unresponsive during the freeze. The launch freeze occurs when the client has previously opened a workspace. The duration does not scale with workspace size — an empty folder freezes about as long as a large repo.
