The payload names no files, functions or entry points, so start by reproducing the freeze on Windows: launch with a previously opened workspace, then switch workspaces, and note where the UI blocks. The only diagnostic is a session ID with no logs attached, so profiling or adding timing logs around startup and the workspace-switch path will be needed. Done means both freezes are reproduced, their cause is identified, and the UI stays responsive during launch and switching.

  1. Launch the Windows desktop client that has previously opened at least one workspace.
  2. Observe a noticeable freeze during startup.
  3. Switch to another workspace and observe another freeze.

Notes:

  • I haven't tested a completely fresh client with no history, so I can't confirm whether it freezes in that case.
  • The freeze does not scale with workspace size — an empty folder freezes about as long as a large repo.
Expected behavior

The client should launch and switch workspaces smoothly, with little to no noticeable freeze.

Actual behavior

The client freezes for a noticeable time both on launch and when switching workspaces. The UI is unresponsive during the freeze. The launch freeze occurs when the client has previously opened a workspace. The duration does not scale with workspace size — an empty folder freezes about as long as a large repo.
