Hướng nghiên cứu

Start by reading the load_map path and how renderd.conf options are parsed; the issue points to Mapnik’s set_active as the layer toggle mechanism. Trace how map configuration reaches rendering, then define the layer names to enable or hide in renderd.conf. Done means those configured layers are activated or disabled after loading the map.

Mô tả

mod_tile provides quite limited options for parameterization of the map style. I think the parameterize_style option for multi-lingual maps was only recently fixed in #502.

Other mapnik-based renderers, such as nik4 and nik5, provide the option to enable and disable map layers. This is very useful for complex styles, such as OSM Carto, as it allows you to disable unwanted layers like ice sheets (which need a data download), admin boundaries, power lines etc., without having to rebuild the style sheet. It also allows you to effectively have optional "overlays", such as hiking vs cycle trails, and so host multiple maps from the same XML file.

This ought to be relatively straightforward to implement after load_map using set_active. The layers to be hidden / activated would be set in renderd.conf.

This is probably the most useful option for parameterization. mapnik does have the option to pass in variables to directly change style parameters, but the use cases are less obvious compared to just changing the XML or reading parameters from the PostgresQL database.
