Start by reading the Agents SDK’s existing input and output guardrails, then review the referenced contract at solana-foundation/pay#525. The proposal calls for a fail-closed HTTP spending check, an atomic replay guard, signed verdicts, and hash-chained receipts, plus a receipts example. Done means those pieces and the example are contributed; the issue does not name specific SDK files or tests.

The Agents SDK has guardrails for inputs/outputs - payments are the action class where an external, verifiable check matters most (a prompt-injected agent can justify any purchase to itself).

Proposal: a payment guardrail - before a tool call that pays (x402 or any HTTP-paid API), consult an external spending authority over HTTP, fail-closed:

  • 2xx + explicit allow -> proceed; timeout / malformed / non-2xx -> deny (never fail-open)
  • (caller_id, operation_id) replay guard, atomic across restarts
  • Ed25519-signed verdicts + hash-chained receipts, auditable offline by sellers, auditors or courts

Reference contract: solana-foundation/pay#525 (Rust reference, running in production). We'd contribute the Python guardrail (~100 LOC) plus a receipts example.
