Start by reading .github/workflows/pr-review-hosted.yml, .github/workflows/pr-review-security-hosted.yml, and .github/workflows/intake-triage.yml, then compare their reusable workflow calls with the kill-switch variables documented in github-iac's README. The issue recommends adding a check-kill-switch job before each call and gating on its proceed output. Done means the org wide and applicable per-lane switches stop the review and intake lanes.

Problem

github-iac's README ("Claude lane kill-switches") says CLAUDE_LANES_DISABLED "Stops every Claude lane at once", CLAUDE_REVIEW_DISABLED stops the code-review lane, and CLAUDE_SECURITY_REVIEW_DISABLED stops the security-review lane. No workflow on either path reads any of them for this repository's review and intake lanes. Flipping them leaves those lanes running.

Evidence (origin/main, 2026-10-11)

  • .github/workflows/pr-review-hosted.yml:77-96 calls melodic-software/ci-workflows/.github/workflows/pr-review.yml@a92020292976 with runner and allowed-bot-sender-ids only. No job gate reads a *_DISABLED variable.
  • .github/workflows/pr-review-security-hosted.yml:85-97 calls pr-review-security.yml@a92020292976 the same way.
  • .github/workflows/intake-triage.yml:27-31 calls intake-triage.yml@ab83b01273026 (v0.39.3), passing runner only.
  • git grep '_DISABLED' over ci-workflows' pr-review.yml, pr-review-security.yml, intake-triage.yml and .github/actions at a92020292976 and at ab83b01273026 finds nothing.

Options

  1. Add a check-kill-switch job ahead of each reusable call and make the call depend on its proceed output. That covers CLAUDE_LANES_DISABLED plus the per-lane review variables.
  2. Gate inside the ci-workflows reusables, so every consumer repository gets the stop.
  3. Correct github-iac's README to say what the variables actually stop.

Recommended: 1 now, because it is in this repository and fails closed like the pipeline gate. Then 2, so other consumers are covered too.
