Start by checking imports of the listed pages, data files, and card components, then inspect the navigation links in src/components/navbar.tsx, src/components/footer.tsx, and src/components/key-components.tsx. Update redirects in next.config.mjs and sitemap generation in scripts/sitemap.js, then regenerate public/sitemap.xml. Done when the old routes redirect to live docs, navigation and sitemap contain no removed URLs, the build and link checker pass, and #521 reflects the removed agent page.

The site's /tools and /agents pages no longer describe the product, and they were last refreshed in May 2025. This issue replaces #63 and #86, which asked for another refresh.

The problem

  • /tools comes from src/data/tools.json. It lists 137 tools under the Python kagent.tools.* provider IDs, a format kagent no longer uses. The current tool server is documented in docs-site/content/kagent/0.x/resources/tools-ecosystem.md and docs-site/content/kagent/1.x/reference/tools-ecosystem.md.
  • /agents comes from src/data/agents.json. It lists 8 agents. kagent v0.10.1 ships 10 agent charts (helm/agents/), and 1.x ships no bundled agents.
  • No script generates either file, so any refresh starts drifting again immediately.

Scope

Remove the pages instead of refreshing them.

  • Delete src/app/tools/, src/app/agents/, src/data/tools.*, src/data/agents.*, src/components/agent-card.tsx, and src/components/category-card.tsx, after checking that nothing else imports them.
  • Repoint the remaining links at /docs/kagent/0.x/resources/tools-ecosystem. They are in src/components/navbar.tsx (Tools and Agents entries), src/components/footer.tsx, and src/components/key-components.tsx (home page cards). Drop the Agents entry instead of repointing it, unless a fitting 0.x page exists.
  • In next.config.mjs, add permanent redirects for /tools, /tools/:categoryId, /agents, and /agents/:agentId, placed above the catch-all redirect.
  • Remove the agent and tool routes from scripts/sitemap.js. Remove the getDynamicRoutes() blocks that read agents.json and tools.json, the tools/ and agents/ entries in DYNAMIC_PATTERNS_TO_EXCLUDE, and the top-level require of src/lib/getToolCategoryId. When the JSON files are missing, the script only logs warnings. If getToolCategoryId.js is deleted while the require remains, every build fails. Then regenerate public/sitemap.xml.

Interaction with #521

Link to 0.x only, not 1.x. Pointing site navigation at 1.x before GA is what #521 holds. #521 lists src/app/agents/[agentId]/page.tsx:110 as a link to fix at GA. Once this issue lands, that page no longer exists, so tick or remove that item in #521. The GA cutover then moves the new redirect targets to 1.x.

Done when

  • /tools and /agents and their subpaths redirect to a live docs page.
  • The navbar, footer, and home page contain no links to the removed pages.
  • The sitemap no longer lists the removed URLs.
  • npm run build passes, and the link checker reports no new broken links.
  • #521 reflects the removed agent page.
