05-agentic-workflows-intro.md is the second-lowest-scoring curriculum step (overall_score 5.43/10, the lowest active_learning score in the corpus at 2.4/10) and the third-highest dropout step (18.0% conditional dropout across 35,780 at-risk runs, 95% CI 17.6%–18.4%), with failures split between agentic-concept-gap (4,331) and deployment-capability-gap (2,103). This step lands immediately after 04-github-actions-intro.md, so two consecutive concept-dense pages stack cognitive load before any hands-on workflow authoring occurs in Step 7. The page already has three embedded activities (two-file-structure prediction, Activity 2 classification, Activity 3 task-brief drafting at workshop/05-agentic-workflows-intro.md:47-108), but checkpoint_quality still scores 0.0/10 under the shared rubric.

Proposed change

Add a short "Recap: what you already learned" callout at the top of 05-agentic-workflows-intro.md that briefly reconnects the five Actions vocabulary terms from Step 4 (one line per term, not a full re-explanation) before introducing the three new agentic-specific terms (trigger/task brief/safe outputs). This reduces the perceived concept jump between steps without removing any content, and converts one of the existing "reveal answer" activities into a checklist-scored checkpoint item to raise checkpoint_quality.

Adding a recap callout increases has_prereq_section-style scaffolding signal and converts an existing activity into a scored checklist item, which should raise checkpoint_quality and active_learning under the shared rubric without adding new concepts (new_concepts count stays the same, so cognitive_load should not worsen).

  • The shared curriculum quantitative assessment overall_score for 05-agentic-workflows-intro.md stays flat or improves after the change
  • The learning KPI index (2.0 × active_learning + 2.0 × checkpoint_quality + 1.5 × scaffolding) / 5.5 for this step stays flat or improves, with active_learning and checkpoint_quality specifically increasing
  • All three existing activities (two-file-structure prediction, Activity 2, Activity 3 task-brief drafting) and the existing checkpoint checklist are preserved in full, not condensed or removed
  • The simulated agentic-concept-gap and deployment-capability-gap dropout rates at 05-agentic-intro decrease in a follow-up simulation run
