Start with the session copy and truncate logic in sentient/gateway/routes/core.py and the messages table it reads from, then check how task runs are stored in sentient/tasks/service.py. The chat controls live in desktop/src/features/chat/UserMessage.tsx. Done means rewinding drops later turns from the model's context and forking creates a new session holding the history up to that point; the payload does not name tests to run.

OpenClaw shipped Rewind and Fork, and Manus added Branch. Trying an alternative should not mean starting over.
Idea: Rewind a conversation or task to an earlier turn, or fork it to try an alternative, with attachments and tool state handled correctly.
Status in Sentient today: New.
Where: Session copy and truncate in sentient/gateway/routes/core.py and the messages table, task runs in sentient/tasks/service.py, and controls in desktop/src/features/chat/UserMessage.tsx.
Done when:
- rewinding removes later turns from the model's context
- forking creates a new session with the history up to that point
